During the postdoctoral phase, it is crucial to strategically align your research career in order to succeed in the highly competitive academic system.

In addition to completing a habilitation or an equivalent qualification and producing excellent publications, securing research funding is a key criterion for eligibility for professorships or other permanent academic positions. Funding also enables independent and continuous development of your own research projects.

This workshop supports participants in assessing their current career stage and provides guidance through the “funding jungle.” The goal is to identify and strategically utilize suitable funding opportunities—tailored to individual goals and long-term career planning.

Workshop Contents:

  • Overview of national and European funding landscape
    – Key funding agencies and relevant programs

  • Requirements for successful grant applications within existing funding programs

  • Assessment of your current funding eligibility and strategic alignment

  • Development of an individual track record through targeted grant acquisition
    – Matching funding formats to current and future research projects

Writing a Successful Research Grant Application

This workshop provides in-depth knowledge for developing a successful research grant application with a funding agency of your choice. Participants will learn how to strategically advance their research ideas and actively pursue funding opportunities.

The focus will also be on presenting your research competencies effectively to meet the positive evaluation criteria of funding organizations and to secure long-term research independence.
